How to Make Alkaline Water

Water is something everybody needs. But on the alkaline diet you need to be careful how much acid you are putting into your body. This article is going to show you how to make alkaline water.

Water PH levels vary wildly across the world but there are ways to ensure that you are keeping the correct balance. You make your own alkaline water.

The alkaline diet can be tough to stick to at times, especially if you don’t have all the info you need. One thing that is easy to make is alkaline water. It only takes a couple of steps.

How to make alkaline water

Step 1. Filter and check the pH level of your tap water

It goes without saying that you should always filter your water. Tap water is full of nasty chemicals that you just don’t want in your body.

Once your water is filtered you need to check the pH level. You might get lucky and already have alkaline water. You can purchase pH testing papers from almost any chemist. They come in strips and will change color to indicate the pH level of the liquid you dab them in. They come with a little color chart that shows you what the indicated color means.

Ideally your alkaline drinking water should be 8 or 9.

Step 2. Alkalize your water

In order to bring your water to the recommended 8 or 9 pH level you will need to drop in a few additives.

There are other ways to do this but one of the easiest is to buy pH drops. pH drops can be bought from health food stores and are ideal for quickly making alkaline water.

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BOTTLE FIRST.

pH drops are a concentrated alkaline solution so you should add it slowly to your water and re-test after each drop until you get the correct levels. Once you get used to the amount required for a certain amount of water you will probably be able to do this extremely quickly. Always shake well and test your water before you drink it.

Remember the magic number is a pH of between 8 or 9.

This is often the easiest and purest way to make alkaline water but here are a couple of other ways to alkalize your water:

  • Add baking soda
  • Use a water ionizer
  • Use ionizing water filters

Its simple and changing to alkalized water can make a big difference to your acid levels in your body.
