My two limits for this video:
* Focus on Savory Items as Sweet Items (been detailed elsewhere as desserts)
* I am intentionally going to not mention ready made products since I have already mentioned my general distrust of commercial products, so while one could go to Netrition or Amazon and find lots of products for snack time like Dixie Diner or Flax-Z Snax, there are issues with it. One of them was highlighted recently with problems over the carb counts of those same Flax Z Snax (http://bit.ly/bG8O67 -or- http://www.carbsmart.com/lowcarbsuccess.html)
It just highlights that your health is not always the highest concern of those making the snack item. It generally is their bottom line, so while those after Induction can evaluate their use, my general philosophy is to pick the least commercial or least diet choice as they typically are the most honest.

Here were my ideas for snacks. (the Induction Friendly ideas)
* Hard boiled eggs or Deviled eggs
* Cheese slices
* Beef sticks – find one without corn syrup
* Sugar Free Gelatin
* Pepperoni “chips” — Zap the slices in the microwave
* Lettuce Roll-ups — Roll luncheon meat, egg salad, tuna or other filling and veggies in lettuce leaves
* Lunch Meat Roll-ups — Roll cheese or veggies in lunch meat (read the labels for carbs on the lunch meat)
* Raw veggies and ranch or sour cream
* Pork rinds, with or without dip
* Flax crackers or cookies
* Buffalo Chicken Dip
* Mock Danishes – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ4LE2Bn-2k
* Cheddar / Parmesan Crisps – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybtTdKObuOY
* Fried Mozzarela pizza- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybtTdKObuOY
* Flax Bread- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DX7wrTX8ybQ
* Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oclOeHol_lk

OWL Ideas: (Latter phases of the Diet – many of the old options are possible as well, such as fruit)
* Nuts (preportion if necessary)
* Sunflower seeds or other seeds like Pumpkin
* Low Carb Granola
* Whey Protein Shakes – check out About Time video
* Greek or Sugar Free Yogurt
* Strawberries and Cream Cheese

  1. I really appreciate your videos. Just starting Atkins and have a lot by watching your videos. Perfect tips on snacking.

  2. Some great snack ideas in the video. Thanks – And congrats on your weight loss (I know you did it some time ago, but it's still awesome).

  3. You can do it much longer. I did it for nearly a year. The time has less to do with the amount to do than your tolerance of the food choices on Induction. I didn't mind it, so I stayed on it a while. I did make a video on the topic called "How long should I do Induction?" Thanks for watching!

  4. so i know this is a little off subject but does induction only last 14 days or if you have a lot of weight to loose ( around 150) should you stay on longer? I LOVE watching your recipes. Fun and easy to make the whole family loves.

  5. I know this is old.. But I went from a die hard Diet Dr Pepper fan to a die hard Diet Rite fan. The only bad thing is that it is not always easy to find. Diet Dr Pepper used to cause me some tummy issues. Diet Rite does not cause me any issues.

  6. Differing foods have portion sizes, like nuts, sour cream, cheese, olives, etc. It isn't always related to their carb counts, but in some case, it is. Nuts can be a allergenic or sensitive food to some people. They can also be one of those trigger foods for compulsive eating and hence don't trigger that satiation point.

    That's why there is a limit — not because of the calories.

  7. So, does calories matter in this diet?? U were talking about the proportion size for nuts. I thought calorie count didn't matter??

  8. I have had more success with local brands for beef sticks (like Nick Sticks), and there are many acceptable summer sausages on the market.

  9. Do you (or anyone reading this) know which beef sticks dont have added sugar? I've read all of the labels and they all seem to.

  10. Yes, just check the ingredients for added sugar not the nutritional label. Tomatoes have natural sugars, so you have to read the ingredients to know.

  11. I didnt quite catch what u said pertaining the beef sticks. You said they were acceptable only without ??? Thanks, ireally enjoy your videos soooo much !! 🙂
